The organising team behind the sold-out twelfth edition of Elbaman in Italy on 25 September 2016, note that this year makes Elbaman ‘a solid and historic race for the Italian calendar’. Back in February 2016, the organizing team reported a first ever sell-out in each Elbaman race and distance (the full distance Elbaman and half distance Elbaman73 event) more than seven months before race day.
2016 will see 815 athletes from 15 countries taking on the full and half distance. A release from the Elbaman organising team cite the event as ‘A classical end-season race that always aims to create a friendly environment and atmosphere for all participants, from the champion to the lowest age-group. Thanks to Radio Bruno, a grand-DJ truck will animate the whole weekend, which starts from the Friday pasta party, through the Saturday kids-race and until the Monday morning prize ceremony.’
Elbaman has been recognized as offering up ‘a beautiful race in a natural paradise’. It is also known as a tough race with its hilly and technical bike course. As the organizers point out, ‘It is not a place for a personal best on the distance: the fastest riders are able to complete the 180K bike course in around 6 hours.’
On the other hand, the Elbaman team adds that ‘you ride on the most amazing bike course you can imagine, watching the crystalline water of the west part [of Elba Island], with Corsica and Montecristo in the background.’ Elbaman takes place each September at the Marina di Campo (Elba Island) between Corsica and the western coast of Italy. Elbaman XII takes place on 25 September 2016.
