With over half of the 2016 Tour de France completed, the Etixx – Quick-Step Pro Cycling Team is delighted with its performance to date, achieved in partnership with Rudy Project, the team’s Official Sunglass for the 2016 season.
Stage 4 of the 2016 Tour de France brought the most excitement for the team thus far, as sprinter Marcel Kittel captured his 14th Grand Tour victory and 11th win this season. With the help of his teammates during the longest stage of this year’s Tour, Kittel exploded to the line for a finish that could only be determined by a photo.
Another team member finding himself in the spotlight this year is Julian Alaphilippe, who started the 2016 Tour as a rider to watch after his overall win at the 2016 AMGEN Tour of California in May. Alaphilippe held the White (Youth) Jersey for 5 stages, asserting his place in the field at just 23 years old.
As the latter half of the 2016 Tour de France continues, Dan Martin finds himself in third place in the General Classification standings after an impressive attack during Stage 9 in the Pyrenees Mountains, only 4 seconds from second place and 32 seconds from the Yellow Jersey.
Kittel currently sits in third place as well, as he pursues the Green (Sprint) Jersey, only 18 points from second place, with many sprint duels to come.
Equipped with Rudy Project’s Special Edition Etixx – Quick-Step Tralyx Performance Sunglass, the team is hoping to continue its outstanding performance in the final stages of the Tour.
The award-winning Tralyx is a favourite amongst cyclists, and Etixx – Quick-Step is the first team to debut the Tralyx XL lens, which is headed to the North American market in the coming months. Unlike the Tralyx SX and standard Tralyx models, the XL features a larger lens profile and an additional cut-out in the bottom of the lens for maximum ventilation.
