Cycling fans will have the chance to share the road with riders from Cannondale, Movistar, Lampre-Merida and Madison Genesis at a special Garmin ride in aid of children’s charity Action Medical Research.
Participants can join members of the professional cycling teams sponsored by Garmin as they warm up for the Tour of Britain on a 47-mile route through the New Forest, Southern England, on Friday 2 September.
The ride, designed by Action Medical Research’s cycling team, offers a scenic cycling experience with a blend of forest roads, quaint villages, tree-lined bends and far-reaching views.
The cycling event is open to the public for the first time this year and aims to smash 2015’s fundraising total of £35,000 to help save and change children’s lives.

The event starts at 08:00 GMT on 2 September with a Q&A with pro cycling teams and a raffle in aid of Action Medical Research. Raffle prizes include ‘cutting edge cycling products, with one lucky winner taking home a brand new Madison bike.’ Riders and pro teams depart at 11:00 to commence the 47-mile route through the New Forest.
For more than 60 years, Action Medical Research has helped pioneer treatments and ways to prevent disease that have benefited millions of people in the UK and across the world. Research funded has helped to beat polio in the UK, develop ultrasound in pregnancy, fight meningitis and prevent stillbirths.
Action Medical Research is currently funding research into meningitis, down syndrome, epilepsy and premature birth, as well as some rare and distressing conditions that severely affect children.
Entry to the Garmin Ride Out 2016 is £35; and all riders will receive a limited edition Garmin Ride Out technical cycling jersey.
