Gatorade Triathlon Series supports Starlight Children’s Foundation

Sports Media and Entertainment 360 has announced the Starlight Children’s Foundation as the official charity partner of the Gatorade Triathlon Series, billed as Victoria’s premier triathlon event.

With five separate events taking place across Elwood, St Kilda and Portarlington, the series will commence in Elwood on 27 November 2016 and end in St Kilda on 26 March 2017.

It is anticipated to attract around 10,000 participants, all of whom are encouraged to fundraise for Starlight as they endure a challenging swim, ride and run with support from their family and friends.

The event also calls for kids aged 7-12 years old to participate in the Carman’s Kids Tri, a mini triathlon which strongly encourages kids to ‘have a go’ and be healthy and active.

This partnership will raise much-needed funds to help Starlight continue to support seriously ill children and their families through its uniquely Australian Captain Starlight and Starlight Express Room hospital programs.

While health professionals focus on treating illness, ‘Captain Starlight turns a sick child’s pain, fear and stress into joy, fun and laughter’. Over 130 Captain Starlights entertain sick kids and their families in Starlight Express Rooms and on wards in all major children’s hospitals nationally.

“Every dollar that goes into our vital hospital programs must first be fundraised, making events like this essential in keeping our hospital programs operating seven days a week,” said Starlight’s State Partnerships Manager, VIC, Lee White.

“The Gatorade Triathlon Series is very much looking forward to helping the Starlight Children’s Foundation reach new heights in 2016/2017, and encourages all participants and supporters to get involved in fundraising for a great cause,” said SME360 Chief Executive Officer Martin Jolly.
