It takes two: Challenge Regensburg presents new team format

The opportunity to take in the unique scenery of Regensburg Cathedral and the long distance Challenge Regensburg event in Germany is being opened up via a new team format… CHALLENGE FOR TWO. As a release from Challenge Family notes, the new format enables participants to ‘Have goose bumps at the swim start, on the bike and on the run course only once’.

All these experiences will now be possible for ‘those who do not dare to complete a long distance race yet, or who just prefer a team experience and a half distance race’.

Within the new CHALLENGE FOR TWO team format, two athletes will divide swim, bike and run distances of Challenge Regensburg equally. ‘Half the distance, the whole Challenge’, is the motto of the new format, which will take place on 13 August 2017 for the first time.

Unlike conventional relay formats in which three athletes each pick one discipline, ‘everyone can experience the fascinating atmosphere of all disciplines over the 1.9 km swim, 90 km cycle and 21.2 km run.’ At the end of the day, Challenge Family notes that each athlete will have a middle distance race under their belt, and be able to take in the entire full distance experience.

Challenge Regensburg race organiser Tom Tajsich said “We got the inspiration for CHALLENGE FOR TWO from an athlete whose husband successfully finished Challenge Regensburg this year. She was there as a volunteer and companion. She was so fascinated by the atmosphere that she would have loved to sign up herself. But the respect for the entire distance was just too big. We loved her idea of CHALLENGE FOR TWO and started immediately to develop the concept.”

The aim of the new format is… ‘To make the beautiful course, a motivating atmosphere and the unique finish of Challenge Regensburg an accessible experience for those who don’t want to take the challenge of the full distance yet do want to participate in swim, bike run.’

“CHALLENGE FOR TWO is perfect for those who’d like to try a half distance,” organizer and pro triathlete Sonja Tajsich added. “Or you could use the CHALLENGE FOR TWO to test the planned new fast bike course before signing up for the ETU European Triathlon Long Distance Championship 2018.”

Registration for CHALLENGE FOR TWO at Challenge Regensburg starts on 20 October 2016 at 12:00 noon CET. The number of CHALLENGEFORTWO relays is limited to 300 pairs. The format has a special introductory price of €395 Euros until 31 December 2016.
