Miami-based MultiRace is building a bridge from Key Biscayne, Florida to Havana, Cuba. The company has announced that the overall male and female winners of the half marathon race in this year’s 2016 GACP Key Biscayne Half Marathon and 10K Presented by iRun benefitting Camillus House will receive an automatic entry and airfare to the 2016 Havana Marathon taking place in Havana, Cuba, on 20 November 2016.
Taking place on 2 October 2016, the Key Biscayne Half Marathon and 10K is designed to take runners over a ‘spectacular and naturally scenic course’. The 13.1-mile route starts and finishes in Key Biscayne. Runners race along the Rickenbacker Causeway surrounded by lush tropical landscapes and ocean views. While this course will present a vertical challenge, the organising team at MultiRace add that ‘it will take your breath away with views of downtown Miami and Biscayne Bay.’
Organised by local Cuba firm Enjoy Cuba Events, MultiRace notes that this year, the Havana Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K became part of the MultiRace family, providing runners ‘one of the world’s most unique settings for a road race’. The 42 and 21 km, AIMS/IAAF certified circuit runs through the heart of Havana in Cuba and provides runners with views of the capital and a ‘running experience of a lifetime’.
The Havana Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K are the latest additions to MultiRace’s portfolio. In late November, MultiRace acquired the The City Bikes Las Olas Triathlon, which takes place in Fort Lauderdale each March.
Established in 2002, and acquired by DaGrosa Partners in late 2013, MultiRace states that it is ‘committed to continuously improving the racer’s experience and the quality of events.’ The organiser claims to be the largest multiple-sport event management company in the State of Florida managing more than 30 endurance events scheduled for 2016. Other events in the company’s roster include Tri Cocoa Village, the Key West Triathlon and Havana Triathlon.
