THE DOUBLE is back! Following a collaboration between the race organisers of Challenge Venice and Elbaman in 2016, the two events are offering athletes another opportunity to be a finisher in both full-distance events. Offering bragging rights to those willing to take on both events, THE DOUBLE award presentation will recognise all DOUBLE finishers, who will receive a prize together with the event winners both in overall and age group categories.
Following a successful outing for this year’s inaugural Challenge Venice, the 2017 Challenge Venice event has been confirmed for 11 June 2017. Next year’s Elbaman event takes place on 24 September 2017. This gives over three months between Challenge Venice and Elbaman.
DOUBLE promotion
Athletes who register for the Elbaman full distance event by 15 November will get the chance to register for Challenge Venice with a special fee of €380 (instead of €430) valid until 31 December 2016. Alongside this discount, the fastest 100 athletes registered in Venice will receive back €20 from Elbaman in cash at that event’s registration next September. There will be a total discount of €70 counting both entry fees.
How to apply
Register and pay for Elbaman by 15 November and send following data to challengevenice[at]gmail.com: surname – name – Elbaman registration code. The 6 digit registration code, ID ISCR, is written on the PDF to be printed in the last step of Elbaman registration. Having sent the e-mail to the Challenge Venice team, athletes will then be able to comple registration at Challenge Venice by the 31 December deadline – in order to take on next year’s challenge of becoming ‘DOUBLE’ athlete.
Overall, THE DOUBLE requires athletes to swim a total of 7.6K, bike 360K and run for 84.4K. By finishing the two full distance races each participant will be eligible for the finisher shirt and to win the trophy, which will be awarded to the first male and female, and to the first three in each age group category.
The final ranking will be calculated based on the sum of the final time of the two events. As the teams at Challenge Venice and Elbaman point out, ‘This is a unique opportunity to live the ‘Dolce Vita’ in Italy and race in two incredible full distance events!’
