Triathlon Business International (TBI) has today announced additional program topics for its 2017 Annual Conference on 22-24 January in Dallas, Texas. TBI and USA Triathlon will be presenting joint programming on Sunday 22 January, with the TBI-specific programming beginning on Monday, the 23rd.
Topics added to the conference schedule include:
- Keynote Speaker, Tuesday 24 January: Sam Renouf, General Manager, Sports, ACTIVE Network, Delivering Experiences Throughout the Event Lifecycle That Can Transcend the Sport
- Panel Discussion: The Changing Dynamics of Manufacturer, Wholesaler & Retailer Relationships
- Panel Discussion: Alternative Event Formats that Engage More Participants and Expand Business Opportunities for Event Producers
Opening up the Tuesday morning Conference sessions will be a keynote address by Sam Renouf, General Manager, Sports at ACTIVE Network. His presentation is Delivering Experiences Throughout the Event Lifecycle That Can Transcend the Sport. Renouf will be talking about how technological innovation has changed what participants want from a triathlon event experience and how organizers can profitably deliver experiences that begin before entry consideration and extend beyond the finish line.
In The Changing Dynamics of Manufacturer, Wholesaler & Retailer Relationships panel, Seton Claggett, founder and CEO of Arizona-based Trisports.com, will moderate a discussion between representatives from each of these sectors. Conference attendees will hear from this diverse group of business owners and leaders about their perspectives on the future of the crucial product supply chain.
Alternative Event Formats that Engage New Participants and Extend Business Opportunities for Event Producers is a panel discussion led by endurance sports veteran, and USA Triathlon and IRONMAN Hall-of-Famer, Bob Babbitt.
Babbitt’s panellists including Jimmy Archer, publisher of DirtTri magazine and Scott Hutmacher, Brand Manager at Life Time Tri. They will explore existing and potential alternative endurance race formats that can attract new participation including off-road, pool and gym events, and others. The discussion will include how event directors can explore these alternative formats to expand their event portfolios off-season.

- Panel 1: The Future of Triathlon – Technology, Growth Areas and Globalization
- General Session 1 – Developing Partnerships Between Rights Holders and Sponsors: Building a Platform to Promote a Brand and Engage with a Community with Ben Cummings, Head of Sponsorships, Columbia Threadneedle Investments, and Michael O’Neil, President, Active-Ethos/Owner, Columbia Threadneedle Boston Triathlon
- Panel 2: Expanding Diversity in Triathlon moderated by Sara Gross PhD, and exploring the African American, Latino and women sectors

- State of the Union/USA Triathlon, Rob Urbach, CEO, USA Triathlon
- Four breakout sessions for event directors, retailers/manufacturers and coaches
- The Ron Smith Awards celebration

Registration
Current registration fees for the 7th annual TBI event are US$695 for current TBI members and US$795 for non-members. Registration includes all sessions, meals, the networking events and one ticket to the Ron Smith Awards celebration.
For the first time, TBI and USA Triathlon are collaborating to consecutively present their respective annual conferences. Once individuals register for the TBI Conference they can register for the USA Triathlon Symposium at a 25% discount. Special conference hotel rates at the Fairmont Dallas are available through 1 January 2017.
