For the sixth time in a row DATEV Challenge Roth won the title of ‘Best Race of the Year’. As voted for by the readers of Triathlon mag in Germany, ‘Europe’s large triathlon magazine’, DATEV Challenge Roth was once again recognised as the ‘world’s best long distance triathlon’ in 2016.
54% of all votes in the award category (the largest number of votes recorded for the event) went to DATEV Challenge Roth. The ‘best race’ award in 2016 builds on a continuous roll of award wins – with Roth previously scooping the award through 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015.
Together with all the race directors, the athlete service representatives and the entire organizational team, Challenge CEOs Alice, Felix and Kathrin Walchshöfer had travelled to the ‘Sailfish Triathlon Night of the Year’ in Langen, near Frankfurt, to accept the award.
In his acceptance speech, Felix Walchshöfer said that the award belongs to the more than 6,000 volunteers, the loyal athletes and the thousands of supporters from the city and county of Roth. He noted that, “For the sixth time, the triathlon-crazy county of Roth hosted the best race in the world with lots of passion and enthusiasm. I thank all our volunteers and supporters with all my heart!”
