The first Stan’s NoTubes custom wheels are now rolling out to customers. As per the all-new Custom Wheelset builder program, riders can design their own Crest, Arch or Flow MK3 mountain bike wheels to their specifications, then Stan’s NoTubes builds them at its New York factory.
“Our custom wheel builder lets you create the perfect wheels for your needs,” said Chris Currie, Creative Director at Stan’s NoTubes. “Start by choosing the best rim for your riding style and tyre size, add your choice of hub and spoke then dial in the look with your choice of nipple and rim decal colours.”
The new custom wheelsets feature the Stan’s NoTubes Mark 3 (MK3) series of rims launched in April. Crest, Arch and Flow MK3 rims are made of a durable 6069 aluminium alloy and have a wide, low profile design that has ‘excellent lateral stiffness and maximizes tyre stability without distorting a tyre’s shape.’
The MK3 rims rely on Stan’s patented Bead Socket Technology (BST), a tubeless rim shape trusted by riders and racers around the world for easy tubeless setup and maintenance.
“What’s great about the custom wheel builder program is that our customers get to optimize both performance and style,” said Chris Currie. “Our site offers details on all the options to help people decide what works best for them. They get all the technical benefits of our latest MK3 wheels, and the wheels look awesome because you can coordinate colours. We love seeing the photos of matching bikes and wheels that have been coming in.”
How it works
- Start the custom wheel-building process by visiting Stan’s NoTubes website at notubes.com/custom-c219.aspx.
- Choose to build a front or rear wheel.
- The builder let the customer add front and rear wheels separately.
- For each, select a Crest MK3, Arch MK3 or Flow MK3 rim in preferred wheel size.
- Then pick hub, axle type, spokes and the colours of nipples and decals.
Prices vary depending on options chosen for each wheelset. The current lead time on custom wheels is ‘only two to three days’.
