ITU seeks Junior Data Developer

The International Triathlon Union (ITU), the worldwide governing body for the Olympic sport of Triathlon is looking for a candidate to fill the position of Data Developer. With the role based in Madrid, Spain, ITU is looking for a highly motivated person who can work as part of a small but very close team. This position would suit a junior developer who would like to focus on data modelling and analysis as some programming experience is required.

Job duties

  • To aid members of staff in extracting, analyzing and visualizing custom reports from the Triathlon API developer platform
  • Manage the gathering and importing of various assets, such as spreadsheets and other ‘offline’ documents, into databases
  • Develop or integrate tools to aid in the collection of new and existing data sources
  • To assist in the development of prototypes to demonstrate the capabilities of the Triathlon API platform

Requirements

  • Must have experience in at least one high level programming language such as Python or PHP
  • Have a good understanding of the SQL query language
  • Be comfortable working with a number of different APIs
  • Have a basic knowledge of HTML/Javascript and be able to develop custom HTML forms
  • Must be able to communicate well in English both verbally and in writing
  • Be able to work autonomously under minimal supervision
  • Be a curious person committed to continual learning
  • Ability to travel and work flexible hours

Nice to haves

  • Experience of the Git version control system
  • Working knowledge of Excel
  • Experience with BI tools such as Tableau, Microsoft BI or Amazon Quicksight
  • Knowledge of both relational and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Amazon DynamoDB
  • Experience with machine learning algorithms
  • An interest in sport
