Three-time IRONMAN World Champion and two-time IRONMAN 70.3 World Champion, Craig ‘Crowie’ Alexander will lead the first-ever triathlon training camp and clinic in Medellin, Colombia in April 2017. Capped at 30 participants, the exclusive camp will offer ‘personalized, expert instruction in the newest destination for athletes seeking world-class cycling and active travel’.
“I’m just now discovering why the Medellin region is an ideal location for training, especially for cycling, thanks to its weather, terrain and people,” said Alexander. “This will be my first time training in the country, and I’m looking forward to sharing that experience with other athletes.”
The camp is the first project from a new partnership between the Human Interest Group (HIG), a sports management and influencer marketing company, and Equipo, an active and experiential travel company.
Home to ‘some of the world’s best cycling’, Colombia is hoping for millions of new visitors annually following a landmark peace agreement between the government and Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia. A release from HIG and Equipo added that ‘the inaugural IRONMAN 70.3 Cartagena was recently held there and received accolades for its spectacular venue’.
“There has never been a better time to come explore this South American Gem of a nation,” commented Anisha Ghoghari, Founder and CEO of Equipo. “Triathletes will see first-hand why pro cyclists, including champions on the world circuit, come back year after year for training in the warm weather and fantastic terrain.”
Running from 1-4 April 2017, the camp will offer individual and group training with Alexander and his Sansego coaching team for triathletes at any skill level. Daily clinics devoted to swimming, cycling, and running will prepare participants for long-distance triathlons and other endurance sports.
Participants will stay at the Club Campestre Llanogrande, a country club situated in the pristine tropical mountain region surrounding Medellin, known as ‘The City of Eternal Spring’. Registration for the Craig Alexander triathlon training camp and clinic is now open, and space is limited to 30 participants.
The Human Interest Group provides marketing, sponsor activation strategies and services, and audience-building content for companies around the world. Craig Alexander is part of HIG’s Professional Triathlon global roster that includes IRONMAN Champion Rachel Joyce, multiple XTERRA World Champion Lesley Paterson, XTERRA World Champion Mauricio Mendez, all-American IRONMAN Ben Hoffman, four-time World Champion Tim Don, Canadian Power Couple Team Wurtele (Heather and Trevor), IRONMAN 70.3 Champ Radka Vodi?ková’, ‘triathlon’s Next Gen star’ Samuel Appleton, 70.3 Champs Lauren Barnett and Jake Montgomery, and Aussie favourite Paul Matthews.
