The 2017 U.S. Open Triathlon saw an increase in support from the triathlon community this year, as the annual event ran through the cities of Rockwall, Heath and Dallas, Texas, on 15 October. With an 8% uplift on the 2016 event reported, this popular late season event seems to gain in popularity each year as triathletes are attracted to the course, which starts with a swim at Rockwall Harbor of Lake Ray Hubbard and takes in the roads of Heath and Rockwall.
The host Rockwall Triathlon Club saw members compete and work the event; and the full ActiveX Team celebrated their 10th anniversary this year at the event. Local support from Heath HS and other triathlon clubs was also seen as key to the success.
Jack Caress, Founder and CEO of Pacific Sports the event producer, said, “It’s a really great feeling each year to have such strong community support for the event. The host Rockwall Triathlon Club saw members compete and work the event. The full ActiveX Team celebrated their 10th anniversary this year; and our local sponsors, volunteers and spectators bring enormous energy to the U.S. Open each year. This atmosphere draws triathletes from all over the country. We love coming to Texas each year!”
A raft of sponsors supported the U.S. Open Triathlon in 2017. Texas Health Presbyterian was the new Medical Sponsor, Active Network continued as the technology partner, ROKA the swim and wetsuit sponsor, Ozarka Water, Velofix, and the new Amstel XLight Beer added to the festivities.
