The Maratona Gear Bag from cycle accessories specialist SILCA was designed as a cycling specific travel bag ‘for those weekend riding trips and races, yet is versatile enough to be used as a general travel bag.’ The designers at SILCA used feedback gathered from both professional and amateur riders to create a gear bag that ‘addresses the common pain points of traveling with cycling essentials’.
According to SILCA, the Maratona becomes even more useful after an event ‘when you want to keep your ride-day kit separate from your other clothing and weekend essentials.’ Some key features include an internal vented shoe bag with both internal and external access, a vented damp garment bag, and internal water bottle holsters. Additionally, the bag is designed so that it unzips enough to lay flat on the ground to form a small work area.
Outside of the internal features of Maratona, the product development team placed a lot of emphasis on ergonomic design. The bag meets airline size regulations for carry-on luggage; and also has three external handles and stowable shoulder straps that allow the bag to be used as either a duffel bag or a backpack.
‘The three external handles make the bag easy to grab and the convertible shoulder straps allow you adjust the bag for traveling through the airport, the city or your next event with ease and maximum comfort.’
Maratona is constructed of 600D Nylon and waxed canvas. This combination of materials has been used by SILCA for a number of years. Reflective quilt stitching and SILCA branding throughout the outside complete the aesthetics of the bag.
