The new 3T Strada aero road bike has been selected for awards in design contests on either side of the Atlantic, winning an Interbike Innovation Award 2017 and a nomination for a German Design Award 2018.
Reviewers have reportedly hailed the original aero road bike frame as a ‘breath of fresh air’. Designed allow wider tyres, disc brakes and a 1x transmission, the 3T Strada is positioned as a step change in road biking, ‘offering race pace and super comfort in one package’.
North America’s largest bike show, Interbike, picked 3T Strada for the top Product Innovation Award in the Road category, assessed on level of innovation, plus overall design and construction, ride performance and/or value. The award shortlist is seen by 3T as a key achievement in a ‘market that is densely populated by highly resourced home competitors with many outstanding performers.’
The German Design Council (Rat für Formgebung) nominated 3T Strada for its prestigious Design Award in the Bicycles and E-Bikes segment of the Sports, Outdoor Activities and Leisure category. The award honours innovative products, their manufacturers and designers who have ‘made pioneering contributions to the German and international design landscape’.
The Strada is a clean-sheet design by 3T’s part-owner Gerard Vroomen (formerly of Cervélo). Coming hot on the heels of last year’s 3T Exploro aero gravel bike, Strada aims to ‘cast aside most of the attributes of the conventional aero road bike, among them narrow tyres, rim brakes and the long-standing 2x transmission.’
