Cycling apparel and accessories specialist EKOÏ has rolled out its Legende helmet – with the French company noting that the new helmet ‘combines top notch technology with retro design’. As seen at this year’s Tour de France, Romain Bardet (riding for AG2R La Mondiale) was seen wearing the helmet ‘inspired by the legendary hairnet helmets of the past’.
Romain Bardet was the only rider in the AG2R La Mondiale team to wear the Legende helmet – helping cycling fans to spot him standing out in the peloton during this year’s Tour. Thanks to the French rider’s suggestions and feedback, EKOÏ developed the current version, now on the market, that weighs 30g less than the first model supplied to Bardet last year.
‘Manufactured and refined down to the smallest detail’, Legende was designed by French designer Benjamin Blanchard and then engineered and produced in Italy with exclusive EKOÏ moulds.
EKOÏ adds that the new helmet has been tested and finalized in the wind tunnel to verify aerodynamics and the positioning of its 28 air intakes. Weighing in at 230g, its shape is reportedly modelled on skull shapes based on European skull morphologies.
A snug fit is ensured by the adjustable occipital bone dial (left and right and vertical) for ‘a precision fit for every head shape’. Legende features high-density, ultra-lightweight EPS and it is equipped with an internal polypropylene cage for reinforced protection in the event of an impact.
Furthermore, the helmet’s straps are fully adjustable and ventilated. They also feature a magnetically-closing buckle.
Legende comes with three sets of foams of different thicknesses as well as an anti-insect protection net microfibre lining and is delivered in a genuine leather, carry bag.
As well as all other EKOÏ products, Legende is customizable online, with exclusive colours ranging from translucent shades to the full gold version, and with glossy or opaque finishes. An optional transparent aero shell can be applied to the helmet for added aerodynamics and protection from the rain and cold.
