The Castle Triathlon Series has an end of season finale event for triathletes and swimmers as part of its 10-year anniversary celebrations. On Saturday 22nd September, during the Hever Castle Triathlon weekend, the organising team will host its first Night Swim. The new Night Swim ‘promises an atmospheric and unique opportunity to swim under the stars in the iconic Hever Castle lake and river Eden.’
Starting at 20:00 GMT, swimmers can enjoy one of three distances, which are all untimed: 400m, 750m or 1500m. Accompanied by atmospheric lighting and classical music the event is positioned as ‘a perfect accompaniment to a weekend triathlon, run or swim and will be a spectacle for spectators and participants alike.’
All swimmers will receive a swim hat, glow-sticks and medal. Warm refreshments will be available along with a licensed bar for post-race warm down. The swimmers event village, set on the Italian lawn by the loggia, will be set up with a heated changing room and bag drop area.
Participants can also book a campsite plot and make a weekend of it with a campsite within easy walking distance to the swim start and set in the castle grounds.
The Castle Triathlon Series is celebrating its 10-year anniversary this year having hosted its first event, Hever Castle Triathlon, in 2009 with 1,100 competitors.
The UK-based triathlon series will host an estimated 18,000 competitors across six weekend events in the UK, Ireland and France in 2018. The Hever Castle Triathlon has grown by a significant 500%, and is now billed as the third largest triathlon in the UK with over 6,000 competitors. It’s also been recognised as ‘the world’s largest junior triathlon’.
A major milestone for the event organiser, celebrating its anniversary is that 100,000 athletes are reported to have completed a Castle Triathlon Series event. The has also been a reported 10% increase in female competitors, and over £1,000,000 raised for charity overall.
