Race director topics for 9th Annual TBI Conference

Triathlon Business International (TBI) has announced the topics for its Race Director (RD) educational track. This is the second of three curricula tracks for the 9th Annual TBI Conference, taking place on January 25-27, 2019 at the Mission Palms Resort in Tempe, AZ.

USA Triathlon will provide five (5) Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to RDs who attend all five workshops.

Similar to the Coaches/Clubs and Retailers/Manufacturers topics, the RD Track topics were developed through a committee. This was led by Mark Walter, Sun Multisport, and was comprised of Greg Hawkins, Kinetic Multisports; Eva Solomon, Epic Races; Marcus Robinson, TBLOCKS; Christina Reddick, ABD, Florida International University, Assistant Director, FIU Tri Club; Rachel Martin, Pumpkinman Triathlon; Brennan Lindner, Generic Events.

RD workshop topics include:

  • Increasing your event’s bottom line with additional revenues streams
  • Understanding the new dynamics of event sponsorship
  • Getting more bang for your social media buck (and how to measure it)
  • Growing your event: making your event paratri-friendly and attracting the athletes you aren’t getting now
  • Tapping into corporate wellness programs: a source for sponsors & athletes

Through working committees for the coaches/clubs, retail/manufacturers and race directors’ tracks, TBI adds that it is creating educational content that is developed by people who are most involved in the sport, and who best know and understand the trending topics.

A list of topics for the coaching/clubs educational track is available on the event website, and coaches of the five workshops will receive eight (8) USA Triathlon CEUs.

9th Annual Conference
TBI Conference registration is now open; details and online registration are available online.

Check-in for the 2019 conference begins on Friday morning in the lobby of the Palms Ballroom at the Tempe Mission Palms Hotel, with the first General Session slated to start at 13:00 MT. Registration for TBI members is US$475 and US$575 for non-members through December 9. On December 10, both prices increase US$50.

Of the seven general sessions – research, social media, State of the State: USAT, graphically recorded brainstorming, a conversation with the co-founders of one of world’s leading shoe manufacturers, and hot topics – one of the most popular is Speed Networking.
