Triathlon Business International (TBI), the industry organization dedicated to promoting the sport and business of triathlon, has announced that nominations for most influential tri coach and dynamic tri club are open. The award winners will be announced at the 9th Annual TBI Conference in Tempe, AZ, on January 25-27, 2019.
Jason Kilderry Award: Most Influential Triathlon Coach
The most influential tri coach award is named after Jason Kilderry, the inaugural winner of this award, who passed away at the age of 35 in December 2017. Founder of ETA Coaching in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, Kilderry rooted his coaching philosophy in science. Every one of his athletes had a plan that was influenced by evidence-based health and fitness methods.
“Our family is really touched that TBI named this award after Jason,” said Dennis Kilderry on behalf of the entire Kilderry family. “Coaching was a passion for my brother and each of his athletes received 110% effort from him. In the years to come, this award will remind us of Jason and be something his son, Finn, can remember with pride.”
Nominations for the Jason Kilderry Award: Most Influential Triathlon Coach Award can be made through TBI’s Survey Monkey ballot (surveymonkey.com/r/CoachesClubs). This award represents a coach who, like Kilderry, is passionate about his/her profession, supportive of their athletes and goes the extra mile to ensure the health and safety of their athletes, and that they get the best possible counsel and training.
Nominations must be received by midnight on December 15, 2018. The top five nominations will be placed on a voting ballot on December 23rd to determine the most influential triathlon coach.
Most Dynamic Triathlon Club Award
TBI will also be acknowledging the most dynamic triathlon club for 2018 at its January 2019 conference. ‘Dynamic is defined as demonstrating significant support of local events and retailers, growth of membership, inclusive training programs for all abilities, and support of its triathlete members and the sport. ‘
Nominations for the Most Dynamic Triathlon Club Award can be made through TBI’s Survey Monkey ballot (surveymonkey.com/r/CoachesClubs). Nominations must be received by midnight on December 15th. The top five nominations will be placed on a voting ballot on December 23rd to determine the most dynamic triathlon club.
The top coach and top club will be announced at the TBI Conference, on January 25-27, 2019 in Tempe, AZ, along with the Triathletes Choice event winners, best published article and photo, best event video, and the Steve Hed and Ron Smith award winners.

Check-in for the 2019 conference begins on Friday morning in the lobby of the Palms Ballroom at the Tempe Mission Palms Hotel, with the first General Session slated to start at 13:00 MT. Registration for TBI members is US$475 and US$575 for non-members through December 9. On December 10, both prices increase US$50.
Of the seven general sessions – research, social media, State of the State: USAT, graphically recorded brainstorming, a conversation with the co-founders of one of world’s leading shoe manufacturers, and hot topics – one of the most popular is Speed Networking. Here, TBI adds that ‘Attendees will be talking fast with colleagues and trading business cards as the last session on Friday.’
The Speed Networking session will be followed by a convivial networking reception in the courtyard of the hotel. A second networking reception at a nearby hotspot, Cabin Tempe, will be held on Saturday evening. ‘The speedy contacts made during Speed Networking can be delved into while enjoying the balmy evening air of Tempe.’
Ten awards also will be given throughout the conference: Best Published Article of 2018, Best Published Photo of 2018; Best Event Video; the Jason Kilderry Influential Coach Award; the Fastest Growing Tri Club; the Steve Hed Award; and four categories of Triathletes Choice ‘Best-of’ Events.
