Registration is now open for the 2019 USA Triathlon Duathlon National Championships, which will return to Lakeside Park in Greenville, South Carolina, next year from April 13-14. Greenville will host Duathlon Nationals for the second consecutive year. More than 1,100 of the US nation’s top run-bike-run specialists competed at the 2018 event this April. According to USAT, this marked the third-largest field in Duathlon Nationals history.
One of the fastest-growing cities in the US, Greenville is situated in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and boasts museums, restaurants and theatres as well as ‘abundant natural beauty’. The city was named one of ‘52 Places to Go in 2017’ by the New York Times, and its revitalized downtown was ranked among ‘America’s Ten Best’ by Forbes magazine.
“Greenville proved to be a fantastic setting for the Duathlon National Championships this past April, offering an ideal race venue at Lakeside Park in addition to a host of local attractions,” said Matt Reger, National Events Manager and Certified Race Director at USA Triathlon. “We saw a large jump in participation numbers when we moved to Greenville, and we look forward to building upon that momentum in 2019.”

Race weekend will kick off with the Draft-Legal Sprint National Championships on Saturday, April 13. The course will cover a 5K run, 18K bike and a further 2.85K run.
The action continues on Sunday, April 14, with the Non-Drafting Standard Duathlon National Championships, which feature an 8.45K run, 39K bike and 4.5K run. Concluding the weekend are the Non-Drafting Sprint Duathlon National Championships on Sunday afternoon, featuring a 5K run, 18.2K bike and 2.85K run.
As in previous years, duathletes will have the opportunity to compete in all three races in Greenville if they so choose.
In all three events, top finishers in each age group will qualify to represent Team USA at the 2020 ITU Multisport World Championships Festival, the location and dates of which are to be determined.
