The organising team behind the Rouleur Classic 2018 note that this year’s premium cycling expo is gearing up to be the best edition yet… ‘As well as superstar names in conversation, and exhibits by all of the biggest brands, there’ll be vintage memorabilia that you won’t find anywhere else.’
The Rouleur Classic returns to Victoria House in London, UK, with the exhibition running from 1-3 November 2018. ‘The greatest cyclist of all time’, Eddy Merckx, has been announced as the guest of honour and on the opening night, he will be inducted into the inaugural Cycling Hall of Fame.
Over 14 cycling world champions (plus Alistair Brownlee)
There will be over 14 UCI World Champions gracing the Rouleur Classic stage over the three days. ‘From 3x champion Eddy Merckx and 8x Sir Bradley Wiggins on Thursday, 4x ITT World Champion Fabian Cancellara on Friday and 2x World Champion Freddy Maertens on Saturday.’
Bradley Wiggins and Eddy Merckx in conversation
Bradley Wiggins’ brand new book, ‘Icons’, celebrates 21 of the riders who have influenced him the most throughout his career. To launch the book, the Tour de France winner, World Champion and five-time Olympic gold medallist will be joined on stage by one of those named icons, Eddy Merckx. Wiggins will also be signing copies of the book at the event.
The launch of Trek-Segafredo 2019
Two riders who have had quite monumental years – albeit in rather different ways – Lizzie Deignan and John Degenkolb will be on stage on Friday to launch Trek-Segafredo’s very first women’s teams and the men’s team for 2019. Guests will get the first glimpse of the team’s 2019 kit.
CeramicSpeed bike
The exhibition will have some of the best technology on display from the sport of cycling, including the CeramicSpeed Driven concept bike, first on show at Eurobike. The idea of a shaft-driven bike might be almost as old as cycling itself. However, as CeramicSpeed’s Ben Powell commented “what’s novel about this design is the engagement mechanism. The shaft engages with the front chainring but instead of there being teeth there are bearings.”
The Cycling Hall of Fame
The Cycling Hall of Fame will open for the first time on Thursday November 1 at the exhibition. While in future years the selection process will be opened out to the public, ‘there could be no arguments as to who the first man and woman riders should be.’ The greatest, Eddy Merckx, will be there to receive his award in person while Beryl Burton will be represented by her daughter Denise.
Unique photography
A unique collection of experiences and exhibits curated exclusively for the ‘passionate and knowledgeable cycling audience’ will be on display, including Michael Blann’s Swiss mountains exhibit. He has captured some of Switzerland’s most cycling-friendly ascents which will be on display across all three days.
Wolf Pack’s extraordinary year
Elia Viviani will be on the stage on Saturday to talk about his and the team’s extraordinary year and to exclusively launching their commemorative book ‘The Wolfpack: 365 days on the road’.
