Triathlon Scotland seeking athlete views on the future of sport

After a three year phase of developing triathlon in Scotland, home nation federation Triathlon Scotland is in the final year of delivering against its 2015-2019 strategic plan. The national governing body notes that ‘To help to steer our ship for the next four years, we now want to collect views, ideas and opinions to shape our 2019-2023 strategic plan.’

Triathlon Scotland’s Chief Executive Officer Jane Moncrieff said “The world around us is changing, including triathlon and multisport too, and so we are excited to launch our future of sport survey!

“We want to hear from everyone who is involved in the sport, including our members, club members, coaches, volunteers, officials, parents and informal helpers. We are also keen to get the views of people who are new to the sport, and people who are training in triathlon and perhaps have not yet undertaken their first event, because you are all part of our future.

“We will then use the information to inform our work, and the work of our partners in sport over the next four years. Therefore, we really encourage responses to our survey from all corners of our triathlon community and for the community to share the survey link far and wide.”

The Triathlon Scotland ‘future of sport survey’ will close on Monday 9 July at 10:00 BST; and the organisation’s 2019-2023 strategic plan will be launched at its AGM on 25 November 2018. The survey can be found via the following link:

The results of the survey will help to inform the direction of the sport and will help Triathlon Scotland to understand what participants would like from the sport in the coming years. The survey will take around 15 minutes to complete in full.

As a thank you for completing the survey, respondents who opt in, and complete the whole survey will be entered into a prize draw to win a £100 Amazon voucher.

Based at Scotland’s University for Sporting Excellence, the University of Stirling, Triathlon Scotland is the national governing body for triathlon, recognised by its federation, British Triathlon. The organisation works in partnership with a club network to increase participation, develop volunteers and train coaches on the UKCC pathway. It also manages the national performance programme, helping to ensure that Scottish athletes are best prepared to qualify and compete at Commonwealth and Olympic/Paralympic Games.

Triathlon Scotland operates through a combination of staff and a voluntary board of directors, complemented by a base of volunteers, ‘all working together to realise the full potential of a vibrant triathlon community in Scotland’.
