Inside the news: interview with Sarah Hartmann at the IRONMAN Foundation

The discussion with Sarah Hartmann, Executive Director at the IRONMAN Foundation, explored the role of fundraising during challenging times.

Sarah outlined the role of the IRONMAN Foundation and its mission to create, positive, tangible impact in all communities where IRONMAN events are held.

In March, the foundation started to pivot all its programs to support communities impacted by the pandemic. Drawing from the mantra ‘anything is possible’, the organisation has learnt to adapt, while races have been impacted worldwide. It remains focused on staying true to its mission – maintaining the giveback and philanthropy at its core.

This has involved a pivoting of the IRONAID program. Thanks to the generosity of athletes and donors around the world, grant funding has continued.

The charity arm of IRONMAN has also introduced the IRONAID 140.6 Virtual Challenge. This will run through the month of September and gives athletes an opportunity to turn their training miles into a fundraising initiative.
