District offers ‘virtual first’ for events with new augmented reality tech

District Technologies has unveiled a short video that showcases its ‘virtual first’ positioning – combining augmented reality, gamification and exploration via app-based solutions.

The video shows an augmented reality finishers medal for a finisher at a District event.

The company’s events aim to ‘turn exercise into a gamified experience’, and District is now offering its technology to mass participation events and other stakeholders keen to offer immersive experiences for participants.

District Technologies is a Singapore based technology firm that launched in 2018, and is engaged in the creation of innovative health & fitness virtual event platforms. Using augmented reality, gamification and exploration as its key drivers, District focuses on delivering engaging user experiences through its mobile apps.

Formed with the belief that ‘technology has the power to transform the world of health, fitness and mass participation events’, the District app was launched.

Using the District app – with no set route or distance – participants choose how they explore a city, by completing virtual checkpoints and challenges to accumulate the most points within the race time limit.

Today District notes that it is helping event organisers, rights holders and sponsors launch their own virtual event solutions, in what the company refers to as a ‘virtual first’ movement.

Virtual First is positioned as…

‘A paradigm shift for the mass participation events industry. In a virtual first world, event organisers understand that an innovative, customer-centric technology platform is a powerful force multiplier.

‘Whether your virtual event is a replacement for or a complement to a physical event, it must offer a compelling customer experience which adds value to people’s lives and is worth paying for.

‘At District Technologies, this is done by applying the most innovative tech available to customisable white-label app solutions. Through this, the event or brand DNA remains intact and front of mind throughout the virtual experience.’

Virtual experiences include free and ticketed walking or running events, staff engagement and team-building, charity and fundraising and tourism applications.
