Over the new year, Team Challenge and the Challenge Women team in Roth, Germany, are offering up a virtual run – the ‘Dreams Cannot be Cancelled Run powered by DATEV; over 5km, 10km or 21.1km.
The team at Challenge Roth notes in a release that…
‘For the whole triathlon community, 2020 has been a year with almost no sporting events and without the realisation of many dreams. But dreams cannot simply be cancelled, not in Roth – the triathlon dream factory.’
Whether individuals are keen amateurs, seasoned runners/triathletes or professionals – they can run 5km, 10km or 21.1km… ‘wherever you are in the world at any time between 30 December 2020 at 10:00 CET and 2 January 2021 midnight CET.
“We miss that very special Roth feeling we normally experience every year at DATEV Challenge Roth; and of course we miss our athletes,” said Felix Walchshöfer at Team Challenge. “Over the new year, we want to give the athletes a heartfelt experience with a virtual run they can take part in without any danger to their health or those around them.”
Athletes run alone on a course chosen by themselves so that social distancing rules can be observed. The tracking and results are recorded by a specially programmed mobile phone app, which must be downloaded prior to the race.
Via the app, runners can also transpose their run onto the Roth run course or Challenge Women route.
“We have a few more surprises up our sleeve; all will be revealed soon,” teased Felix Walchshöfer.
Entry packages
Participants registering for the Dreams Cannot be Cancelled Run powered by DATEV, can choose between two packages:
- An online entry package for €19.95 includes a digital starter bag, start number, certificate and Spotify playlist.
- A premium package for €49.95, will be sent at the beginning of December. Theis ‘consists of gifts worth over €100’ including a medal, a quality headband made by RenéRosa in Roth and exclusive access to video chats and a look behind the scenes during the event week. The premium package is limited to 3,500 entries.

There is a separate merchandise collection featuring the motto ‘Dreams Cannot be Cancelled’. The sport and lifestyle clothing is produced by RenéRosa, the clothing supplier for Roth champion Andi Dreitz and world champion triathlete Anne Haug.
‘Special offer for companies’
For companies that have to forego a Christmas party due to the current situation, or who would like to get their employees together with an active Christmas present, Team Challenge has put together some special offers with the option of adding individual products to the entry packages.
