Billed as ‘the lightest e-road bike frame on the market’ – the new SCOTT Addict eRIDE aims to raise the bar and offer a ‘revelation to the world of cycling’.
The ALL-NEW Addict eRIDE marks the birth of a new era at SCOTT within a still young segment. According to the company… ‘E-Road bikes aren’t on this earth to make things easier. They’re here to make things more interesting, to help you climb higher, longer and steeper.’
With this objective in mind, SCOTT has merged the innovation from its Addict RC road bike into a new generation of e-road bikes.
At first look, it’s hard to tell whether the Addict eRIDE has an electric assistance. More than sharing a name with the Addict RC, the new Addict eRIDE also shares a design.
‘At a glance, it’s really hard to tell which one has electric assistance. This level of integration translates to a more advanced bike in terms of construction for a radical feeling that’s as close as possible to a regular road bike.’
The Addict eRIDE features the Syncros Creston iC combo handlebar to allow for completely internal cable routing for mechanical or electronic cables and disc brakes. All Addict eRIDE models are equipped with the Syncros Creston iC combo or handlebar/stem.
With a frame weight of just 1.040kg and a complete bike weight of 10.75kg, the Addict eRIDE sets a new milestone in the electric road assist category.
Like all other electric assist bikes with the pedelec classification, the Addict eRIDE can provide an assistance up to 25km/h, after which it becomes a regular road bike. Mahle has developed a dedicated road bike assistance to deliver a natural feeling both when the motor is off and when it starts to give power again.
The Addict eRIDE’s frame gives the ability to double battery range by adding an additional 208wh battery. SCOTT’s own range booster technology comes as an accessory and looks just like a bike bottle.
‘Easy to install, simply by sliding a bottle into a bottle cage it enlarges the total capacity to 460Wh. The system automatically adapts to having two power sources.’
The Addict eRIDE is available in fourdifferent models including a dedicated Contessa version as part of SCOTT’s recently launched Contessa Signature Collection:
- Addict eRIDE Premium (€9.499)
- Addict eRIDE 10 (€6,499,00)
- Addict eRIDE 20 (€4,499)
- Contessa Addict eRIDE (€6,499)
Pricing might vary according to market, and the Addict eRIDE will be available at local dealers by October 2020.
