ENVE has unveiled the Foundation Collection – a new line of US-made carbon wheels coming in at US$1600. The Collection includes the ENVE 45 and ENVE 65 road wheels, in addition to the all-mountain capable AM30 for the baggy short MTB crowd.
Like all ENVE wheels, the Collection wheels are designed, engineered, and handcrafted in Ogden, Utah. Wheels in the Foundation Collection will retail for US$1600, AU$2899, C$2250 CAD, £1800 and €1800.
While in development for nearly a year, the Foundation Collection was originally envisioned with the company’s state-of-the-art facility that opened in 2017. Just as Shimano offers Dura-Ace and Ultegra, and Specialized S-Works and Pro lines, a more accessibly priced offering has been a goal for premium wheel brand ENVE a number of years. The company adds that, thanks to manufacturing efficiencies gained, the wheels are now possible.
“A more accessibly priced wheel collection has been on our project list for many years now,” said ENVE’s Managing Director, Jeremy Venz.
“At ENVE, we pride ourselves on delivering a top-shelf product to core riders. However, for us to hit our price and performance targets, we had to follow a plan and respect the process. Part of this was to achieve greater manufacturing efficiencies.
“We’ve been in our new state-of-the-art carbon manufacturing facility for just over three years now and roughly a year ago, we achieved levels of efficiency in manufacturing that allow us to both produce and deliver the volumes the Foundation Collection is creating while maintaining current production of our premium lines.”
