With millions of people around the world currently staying at home in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, the International Triathlon Union’s TriathlonLIVE.tv channel is being offered as a 365-day free trial. According to ITU, this will allow all multisport fans the chance to enjoy its huge archive of racing, interviews and exclusive behind-the-scenes features going back 30 years.
Subscribers have until 1 April to register online. A credit card is required for sign-up, which ITU confirms will not be charged during the free trial period. The standard annual subscription for TriathlonLIVE.tv is US$26.99 (plus any tax).
The trial means that, even with live events on hold for now, viewers can re-live every World Triathlon Series (WTS) race, all the ITU World Championship battles since 1989, watch ITU World Cup replays and ‘hear from the biggest names in the sport and follow their idols’ progress over the years.’
‘From Mark Allen and Erin Baker winning the inaugural World Championships in Avignon, 1989, to the Brownlee brothers’ duels with Javier Gomez, Katie Zaferes versus Vicky Holland in 2018 and Vincent Luis’ tense finale last year in Lausanne, there are thousands of stories from the sport’s history to uncover.’
As soon as racing resumes, everyone who is registered will also have full access to the live streams, from the World Triathlon Series and exclusive World Cups to the Paratriathlon, Age-Group and Multisport World Championships.
ITU adds that… ‘In these challenging times, ITU and TriathlonLIVE want the global triathlon family to be diligent and look after each other, to maintain healthy habits and try to keep active.
‘Live triathlon will be back, and it will stronger than ever. In the meantime, ITU urges everyone to join their fellow fans worldwide on the home of multisports, TriathlonLIVE.tv, and follow ITU’s social media channels to join the conversation and share tips and personal stories about staying mentally and physically strong.
‘By watching the stars of triathlon, the breakthrough young talents and inspirational age-groupers, TriathlonLIVE.tv will provide fans with the motivation to keep fit and plan for their next race, whenever that may be.’
