INCUS Performance has welcomed Scottish long-distance triathlete David McNamee to its team. Alongside McNamee acting as a brand ambassador he is joining INCUS as a product development advisor. INCUS notes that his product feedback will be key for the further development of the tool for use with high-performance athletes.
The INCUS Nova is a wearable analytics tool that sits unobtrusively between the shoulder blades, allowing for data across all three disciplines involved in triathlon. Originally developed for swimming the INCUS Nova can provide detailed metrics of a stroke, including body roll, pitch and velocity gain.
In September 2020 the device will accept wireless updates for its phase one of integrations for running performance. This allows access to metrics such as running power, take off acceleration and landing deceleration. INCUS adds that careful monitoring of these data points can not only improve efficiency and speed, but can also be used to assess recovery and fatigue.
David McNamee will be using the INCUS Nova device to support him with a comprehensive range of data and analytics throughout his training and racing to improve his performance ahead of taking on the IRONMAN World Championships in 2021. A two-time podium finisher of this prestigious event in the lava fields of Hawaii, he will be looking to join the elusive sub-8 hour finishers club and cement himself in the history books.
