The discussion with Hugh Roberts, CEO at SweetSpot, explored developments at the UK cycling event specialist.
Surrey-based SweetSpot was behind the successful revival of the Tour of Britain, the UK’s largest professional cycle race, in 2004 after a five-year absence. The event now forms a cornerstone of the British sporting calendar and is ‘the country’s largest free-to-watch sporting event attracting more than one million spectators.’
The discussion covered a range of areas – from SweetSpot’s focus on delivering sustainable and solvent events; through to The Great Tour, which spans the British coastline; and, how virtual is taking off.
SweetSpot had its own foray into virtual racing this year, with the ŠKODA V-Women’s Tour, on the RGT Cycling platform. The company also has developments in the pipeline for its upcoming in-house media arm – SweetSpot Media.
