Market disruption: Stages Cycling drops power meter pricing

Stages Cycling has announced lower pricing for its entire line of power meters. Building on its claim to be ‘the world’s largest manufacturer of cycling power meters’, the company is shaking up the market with notable price drops on key product lines.

The price drops for Stages’ power meters are significant in opening up the entry price point in particular. The US dollar pricing of a Stages single-sided power meter has now dropped 42%, while a Stages Ultegra dual, left and right sided power meter is down 27%.

Stages notes that it now offers accurate, reliable, and light weight power measurement beginning at US$299 / £299 / €299 / AU$549 for a Shimano 105 R7000 Power L meter and ranging up to US$999 / £939 / €999 / AU$1499 for Shimano DuraAce R9100 LR Power.

“Stages Power meters revolutionized the power measurement category when we launched seven years ago, making a tool once reserved for paid professionals available to any cyclist, regardless of their goals,” said Pat Warner, Stages Cycling Vice President.

“These even more affordable prices are fuelled by innovation in efficiencies at our Boulder, CO, factory, innovations driven in part by the continuing robust growth of our indoor business which supplies power meter-equipped bikes to thousands of fitness clubs around the globe.

“From the start, our dream has been to let any rider train like a pro, and these new pricings will help even more riders realize their own dreams, whether that’s finishing a bucket-list 200 mile gravel race or just keeping that New Year’s Resolution to lose a few pounds.”
