While some race organisers around the world have been hesitant about opening up events next year for registration, the team at Challenge Family has now opened registration for its flagship event – The Championship. This takes place on May 22-23, 2021 at the x-bionic sphere sports resort in Samorin, Slovakia.
For professional athletes, The Championship 2021 will carry a minimum €150,000 prize purse. A pro athlete qualifying system enables professional athletes to qualify for The Championship 2021 via Challenge Family events worldwide.
Age group athletes will have the opportunity to qualify with a top-six age group finish at any Challenge Family event worldwide during the qualification period.
“We are delighted that after this bizarre year and having to cancel the 2020 edition, we can now look forward to next year,” said Race Director Tomas Vrzak. “Our focus is on 2021 and setting up an unforgettable event.
“Also, we are very happy with our close cooperation with the x-bionic sphere, the amazing team and the volunteers involved. We appreciate all the effort of the team and volunteers in the past tough months.”
He continued, “The Try-Athlon, Sprint, Olympic Distance and Kids Run will take place on May 22nd. Challenge Family The Championship Middle Distance and the Open Series Middle Distance will follow on May 23rd.
“All courses will be the same as last year’s, giving athletes the opportunity to compare their times and results from then to now. Of course, everyone as spectators will also be able to enjoy an enormously strong pro field during the pro races.”
Challenge Family CEO Jort Vlam said “The disappointment about having to cancel the 2020 edition was enormous, but that only increases our passion to make Challenge Family The Championship even more spectacular in 2021.
