For Bike Week 2020 (6th-14th June 2020) findarace.com has launched a new virtual cycling challenge – ‘The Social Distance’.
There’s a solo option: the ‘Tour de Dom’. This is a 610 mile (1000km) virtual challenge equivalent to London – Durham – Barnard Castle – Durham – London.
Event & endurance experiences aggregator findarace.com notes that… ‘to complete this challenge participants will need strong lungs and legs, a strong mind, and ideally decent eyesight.’
There’s also a Team ‘Virtual LEJOG’ option where groups of cycling friends can work together to ride the equivalent of Land’s End to John O’Groats (LEJOG) – 1000 miles (1600km).
£2.50 from every entry goes to the Alzheimer’s Society.
Challenges have to be completed within 30 days of sign-up. Anyone who completes the challenge and submits their evidence before the end of Bike Week (midnight on June 14th) will get a free Limited Edition T-shirt to go with their ‘Social Distance medal’.
Since COVID-19 reached Europe more than 5,000 people have taken part in findarace.com’s virtual challenges. These activities have covered more than 40,000km (> the distance around the equator) and raised more than £25k for charity.
