USA Triathlon has partnered with Blerter, the event delivery platform for sports. The deal sees Blerter supporting race-day operations at all USA Triathlon-owned events through May 2023.
‘Blerter specializes in centralizing communications, operations and safety processes, bringing race directors and an entire event production team together on one platform. The easy-to-use mobile and desktop application is designed to help event staff and volunteers quickly and effectively recognize and respond to issues that may arise on race weekend.’
The platform has built momentum within the triathlon event space in recent months, having signed separate deals with Challenge Family and the International Triathlon Union (ITU) / World Triathlon.
Blerter adds that it ‘enables event organizers to plan for the unexpected while ensuring best-in-class safety standards and quality control throughout an event. Additionally, the cloud-based technology, which enables two-way communication across the entire event crew, helps reduce response times to incidents of all types.’
The platform will be used for onsite operations at USA Triathlon’s four owned National Championships – Duathlon, Collegiate Club, Youth & Junior and Toyota Age Group Sprint- and Olympic-Distance – as well as the Legacy Triathlon and Toyota USA Paratriathlon National Championships.
USA Triathlon notes that it will also communicate with its more than 300 certified race directors across the country to drive awareness and encourage the adoption of best-practice operational standards through Blerter technology.
“Our partnership with USAT underlies our ongoing commitment to the development of triathlon, innovation and delivery of safe and impactful events,” said Richard Gill, Blerter CEO and Founder.
“While COVID-19 has created significant challenges for events of all types, it provides an opportunity to re-think delivery and find innovative new mechanisms to manage both health concerns and increased budget constraints, while still providing a rewarding experience for participates.”
Brian D’Amico, USA Triathlon Director of Events, said “The safety of athletes, spectators and volunteers is the highest priority at all USA Triathlon events. Blerter’s state-of-the-art platform will support USA Triathlon staff in safely executing our event plan, addressing incidents in real-time while keeping all necessary parties informed.
“In addition, streamlined communication will help us maximize the athlete experience as a whole, from aid stations to expo, as we recognize and respond to minor issues throughout race weekend. We look forward to working with Blerter to elevate our owned events, while promoting the platform to our community of multisport race directors.”
Blerter has created a COVID-19 Hub, which offers resources, leadership and insights for event organizers in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. The technology will support the implementation of USA Triathlon’s Safe Return to Multisport Initiative, as event organizers face the challenge of incorporating enhanced physical distancing, self-screening and sanitation protocols at their events.
