Headwear and neckwear accessories brand, BUFF, has joined forces with the Tour of Flanders and is sponsoring this iconic road cycling race for the first time.
According to BUFF… ‘The vision and shared values of BUFF and Flanders Classics, official organiser of the cycling event, have been key in launching this new collaboration.’
This year’s Tour of Flanders pro cycling event is scheduled to take place on April 4, 2021. The mass participation Ronde van Vlaanderen Cyclo, We Ride Flanders, event has been pushed back to the autumn. Due to coronavirus restrictions the mass participation event is scheduled for Saturday September 18th, 2021.
Sergi Muñoz, Global Sports Marketing Coordinator of BUFF, said “Being able to partner with the Tour of Flanders is to be part of cycling history. We like the authenticity of the event, the commitment of the fans, and the passion and dedication of both the participants in initiatives such as ‘We Ride Flanders’ and that of the professional riders.”
Managing Director of Flanders Classics, Thomas Van Den Spiegel, said “Collaborating with an internationally renowned brand such as BUFF will allow us to strengthen the Tour of Flanders brand.
“Rather than just focusing on the sport side of things, BUFF will give us the opportunity to promote the Tour of Flanders in a broader way as it is also part of a lifestyle.”
The signed agreement is not limited only to the sponsorship of the race, but also includes the creation of a limited edition range of products. These aim to offer ‘a clear tribute to this emblematic cycling race with more than 100 years of history.’
“We have created a collection that resonates with all cycling enthusiasts to help them achieve their goals and challenges, while also encouraging them to spend more time outdoors, in line with our ‘LIVE MORE NOW’ philosophy,” said BUFF’s Sergi Muñoz.
The BUFF TOUR OF FLANDERS 2021 collection is made up of five different models (three caps, a tubular and a headband).
The Pack Bike Cap and Underhelmet Cap have been designed to be worn under the helmet. The Pack Bike Cap can be folded to take up the least amount of space, recovering its shape once unfolded, making it easy to store in any pocket. The Underhelmet model stands out for its elasticity, lightness and breathability. The third model is the Trucker Cap, from the BUFF lifestyle line; it has a modern design and is for wearing when not competing.
This collection comes with the iconic BUFF Original, with 4-way stretch and UPF 50 protection against the sun’s rays, and the Coolnet UV headband, with breathability thanks to the HeiQ technology it incorporates.
In line with the BUFF values and its commitment to the environment, sustainability also plays a role in this limited edition collection, as it includes two models made with fabrics obtained from recycled plastic bottles. They all share a common design based on the use of the race’s corporate colours, black and yellow, as well as the official name of the race: De Ronde van Vlaanderen.
The BUFF TOUR OF FLANDERS 2021 collection will be available on the BUFF website starting on March 4.
