Elite triathlete Daniela Bleymehl and ABUS announce partnership

ABUS is expanding its involvement in triathlon. After developing two high-performance helmets especially for triathletes and a global partnership with Challenge Family, the company is now working together with elite triathlete Daniela Bleymehl.

Formerly Daniela Sämmler, the three-time IRONMAN winner, and winner of Challenge Roth 2018, is one of the best German athletes over the long distance with a best time of 8:43:17. ABUS notes that her ninth place at the 2019 IRONMAN World Championship sees her deliver ‘outstanding bike performance for her successes.’

“That connects Daniela Bleymehl with the product developers, designers and cycling experts at ABUS,” said Martin Böckelmann, ABUS Sponsoring Activation Manager. “We offer helmets for athletes who don’t compromise.”

ABUS already benefited from Daniela Bleymehl’s experience to develop its new performance helmets – the GameChanger TT and the GameChanger TRI.

ABUS has been optimizing the successful GameChanger helmet in the wind tunnel especially for the requirements of triathletes. Athlete feedback has influenced further development of both models – the time trial helmet (TT) and the TRI helmet, which combines ventilation with aerodynamics.

Daniela Bleymehl said “I’m really looking forward to working with ABUS. We have been in contact for over a year, and I had the opportunity to experience the development of the new time trial helmet first-hand.

“I was able to convince myself of the quality and professional development work during two aero tests on the track and a wind tunnel test in the summer and I am really impressed.”

Torsten Mendel, Marketing / PR Manager Mobile Security at ABUS, said “We are very much looking forward to working together with Daniela Bleymehl.

“With a world-class triathlete like her, we can offer performance helmets for top athletes, age groupers and the large number of amateur athletes, developed very close to the pro and performance-oriented triathlon sport. We are sure that, with our expertise in road cycling, we will also reach this finish line very quickly in the triathlon sector.”

The two new performance helmets, GameChanger TT and GameChanger TRI, will be available from April 2021. The launch will be accompanied by a campaign in which Bleymehl will appear. The campaign, which will be rolled out internationally, will be communicated to end consumers via print and digital media using advertisements, photos and videos.

Bleymehl added “I can hardly wait to use the helmet in competitions. I am all the more grateful to have found a strong partner in ABUS who, like me, relies on a long-term partnership after the very challenging year of 2020.

“The family-owned company ABUS is a perfect fit for our own small family venture and I am excited to see what we will achieve together in the future.”
