Event category rollercoaster: new run event at Alton Towers this November

The brand new Run Alton Towers 10k & Half Marathon is scheduled to take place on Sunday 14th November 2021, and aims to be a staple for the autumn racing calendar in the UK. The race offers runners of all abilities the opportunity to race around the Alton Towers Resort in Staffordshire, England.

Event organiser, RunThrough Events, is adding this new and unique event to its calendar – bolstering a long list of events, with over 200 chip timed races UK-wide. The company has experience bringing events to some of the UK’s most famous landmarks including Hampton Court Palace, Aintree Racecourse, Goodwood Motor Circuit, Colchester Zoo, and many more.

The event will aim to welcome thousands of runners to Alton Towers Resort in Staffordshire. Starting in the heart of the theme park, the race will take in almost all areas of the resort – with runners completing one lap of the park for the 10k and a second lap to clock up the half marathon.

Alton Towers Resort is a multi-award-winning destination with unique accommodation, a waterpark, spa and theme park spanning over several fully themed areas offering other-worldly adventures for the public.

Home to the World’s first CBeebies Land and UK’s only Rollercoaster Restaurant, as well as more than 40 rides and attractions for guests of all ages, the theme park is renowned for several iconic, world-class coasters.

The Alton Towers 10k & Half Marathon will see runners take in a full 10k loop around the Theme Park before it opens to the public, giving them a unique view of the site. Starting and finishing next to the Alton Towers ruins, the route will take participants past some of the most notable rides Alton Towers Resort has to offer, including: the Congo River Rapids, Nemesis, Hex, Rita, Oblivion and The Smiler.

Online entries are now open. The early bird entry fees stand at £34 for the 10k and £38 for the half marathon. All finishers will receive a unique themed medal, RunThrough technical t-shirt, free official photography, a goody bag, free parking and free use of the theme park rides after the race. This will be exclusively open to runners and their spectators only (worth £34).
