Kristian Blummenfelt ties-up with ASICS

ASICS has signed Norwegian triathlete Kristian Blummenfelt to become part of its ambassador team. 2021 saw Blummenfelt win gold at the 2020 Olympic Games, take the 2021 World Triathlon Champion title and win the 2021 World Triathlon Championship Finals in Edmonton.

Blummenfelt said “From my first strides in the [ASICS] METASPEED Sky, I felt the response was totally different than from any other shoes I had tested. I was running on the track, dropping significant splits per lap compared to what I was previously achieving. At this level, you can’t say no to ‘free speed’.”

The Norwegian athlete began competing in triathlon in 2008 and joined Norway’s national team in 2009, with his eyes set on an Olympic Gold Medal. He registered multiple podium places in the World Triathlon Series in 2017 and has continued to win consistently since then. In November 2021 he broke the IRONMAN world record during his debut in Cozumel, Mexico.

Blummenfelt continued “I am really excited to be joining the ASICS Team. The brand philosophy of ‘A Sound Mind in a Sound Body’ resonates with me a lot.

“Running is freedom for me and allows me to disconnect from the noisy world. It calms down my thoughts and although it’s such a simple activity, it helps me to find the balance between body and mind.”

Olivier Mignon, Director of Sports Marketing at ASICS, said “Kristian’s performances over the last year have been amazing to see and for him to achieve them in the METASPEED Sky shoe speaks to the quality of our products.

“Kristian shares our values and is a wonderful sportsman who believes in the positive benefits of movement on the mind. We look forward to supporting him with our latest innovations in the years to come.”
