Mute Activity is the latest additional privacy update from Strava following last month’s extension of Beacon to all app users.
With the update, athletes can:
- Upload an activity publicly and compete towards challenges and compete on segment leaderboards without publishing the activity in followers’ or Clubs’ feeds
- Compete towards Local Legends on segments without the activity appearing in friends’ feeds
In addition, Strava users can now access Local Legends on over 20 of Zwift’s most popular segments. Strava adds that this feature extension supports… ‘effort-based achievements and making segments more approachable, dynamic and fun for athletes who ride indoors.’
In Local Legends ‘competitions’, the most active member within a given segment over a 90 day period earns the crown: with older efforts dropped from the scoreboard, there’s always a chance to claim pole position.
Strava adds that these updates… ‘combine to let athletes control how they tell their stories at the individual activity level – avoiding clogging their friends newsfeeds if they don’t want to share commutes publicly, for example, while also enabling users to compete for new crowns without leaving their home.’
