More than 80,000 runners in the Ohio region will benefit from a new event timekeeping partnership. Cleveland based timing company Hermes Sports & Events and MYLAPS have partnered up to offer… ‘best-in-class sports experiences’ to event organizers and their participants and fans.’
Hermes is responsible for timing over 150 road races per year. This includes events such as the Union Home Mortgage Cleveland Marathon, Guardian Mile and Onyx Health Club Cleveland Turkey Trot. The Cleveland Marathon, which took place last weekend, is one of the 50 oldest marathons in the USA and consistently ranks in the country’s top 25 marathons to participate in.
Founded in 1982, MYLAPS is a developer of automatic sports timing and develops technology that is used all over the world, from the Olympics, Boston Marathon, and NASCAR to numerous local races.
Hermes will utilise BibTag technology. This is a standard timing system suitable for mass participation events with ‘affordable chips and the highest read-rate in the industry.’
All bibs will be equipped with ThinTag, a UHF tag that reduces handling and shipping costs because of its thin (2mm) design, patented by MYLAPS.
“We are thrilled to work together with the global leader in sports timing,” said Ryan Harrison, Race Timing & Results Specialist at Hermes. “Hermes and MYLAPS make a great team because we are both committed to giving runners the timing experience they expect and deserve.”
Mike Schmitz, Managing Director MYLAPS Americas, said “At MYLAPS we strive to offer the ultimate sports experience to athletes, followers and events. We are excited to partner with Hermes and use our technology to offer the best timing experience at their races in the Ohio region and we look forward to work together in the coming years.”
