The new Andorra Multisport Festival continues to make its mark this week with four events taking place all around the small independent principality – specifically in Andorra La Vella, Ordino, La Massana and Sant Julià de Lòria. The main athlete village is set in Parc Central in Andorra la Vella.
Organised by IRONMAN, the sports festival in Andorra, situated between France and Spain in the Pyrenees mountains, is, overall, comprised of five different races. Four are being hosting this week, with nearly 2000 athletes expected to take part.
Part of the Andorra Multisport Festival, the World Triathlon Winter Championships Andorra event took place earlier in the year on March 19 -21.
The current and upcoming events consist of a road cycling stage race, mountain bike stage race, trail running event and a triathlon event. Racing kicked off this week on June 22, 2021, and ends on July 4, 2021.
From June 22 to June, the Andorra 21 Ports road bike stage race takes athletes on a journey across three stages and a total distance of 295km. Starting and finishing in Parc Central in Andorra La Vella, riders get to enjoy the landscape of Andorra while riding on the same roads that have seen riders from two of the world’s most famous Grand Tours.
Taking place in Ordino, the Trail 100 Andorra-Pyrenees from June 24 to June 27 takes trail runners through the Pyrenees on courses ranging from 7.5km to 125km, pushing their limits while exploring the cultural heritage of Andorra and its mountain ranges.
Starting in La Massana, the Andorra MTB Classic-Pyrenees is an exclusive four-day stage race by the organizers of the Epic Series of mountain bike events. The event is scheduled for June 30 to July 3, 2021. ‘Riders will be faced by a challenging, technical yet enjoyable multi-day event.’
Finally, IRONMAN 70.3 Andorra will be held on July 4, 2021. It consists of a 1.9 km swim course in one of Europe’s highest lakes; a 90.1 km bike course that leads to the top of the Coll de la Gallina and the La Peguera passes; and a fast three-loop 21.1km run course near the Valira River.
