Ötztaler RadMarathon virtual race visits Timmelsjoch Pass on ROUVY

Building on a partnership between ROUVY and the Ötztaler Cycle Marathon in Austria, ROUVY users are now able to take on a virtual race climb of the Timmelsjoch Pass.

Taking place on March 6th, cyclists will discover a 28.7 km uphill course in the Ötztal Alps, popularly known in Italy as the Passo del Rombo, which connects the Ötztal valley and the Italian province of South Tyrol.

A previous Ötztaler Cycle Marathon 3-week virtual challenge was held from February 8-28. According to ROUVY, this saw participants from around 85 countries explore Austrian mountain passages, from their training caves. While over 4,300 riders registered for the February challenge, around 1,500 gained their virtual finisher badge.

During the challenge period, participant svoted for their favourite Oetztal Cycle Marathon climb choosing from the four alpine passes: Kühtai, Brenner, Jaufenpass and Timmelsjoch. ROUVY notes that there was a clear winner, and Timmelsjoch was selected as the race climb for March.

With a clear majority of over 60% of votes, the Timmelsjoch is the most popular pass of the real and virtual world outings of the Oetztal Cycle Marathon. With its 28.7km and 1759m of altitude, the finale of the classic cycle marathon serves as the virtual mountain race course for the official virtual ROUVY Race on March 6, 2021 at 16:00 CET.
