Heading out from Cantù in Lombardy, northern Italy, the Gran Fondo Il Lombardia tackles the historic climbs of Sormano and Ghisallo. Sponsored by ENEL, this year’s event is scheduled to get under way on Sunday 10 October – the day after the final Monument Classic – Il Lombardia 2021 – takes place.
The race for amateurs will start and finish in Cantù, with the iconic climbs of Ghisallo and Sormano in between. The Gran Fondo will take place the day after ‘the classic of the fallen leaves’ while the race village will open its doors on Saturday for the collection of riders’ race packs.
Saturday 9 October
- 09:30 CEST: collection of race numbers and new registrations for Gran Fondo Il Lombardia at the race village in Piazzale Corso Europa, Cantù (CO) near the municipal stadium; and bike park opens.
- 19:00: race village and bike park close, and end of distribution of race numbers.
Sunday 10 October – race day
- From 06.30: starting grids open
- 07:30: race start of the 4th edition of ENEL Gran Fondo Il Lombardia, from Piazzale Corso Europa, Cantù (CO); arrival at Piazza Garibaldi, Cantù (CO)
- Race closes as per time limit at 14:30, with race village and bike park closing at 15:30.
