As part of the 2021 Gran Fondo World Tour, the event series’ Virtual World Championship will hold its second round race on April 27th, on the ROUVY indoor racing platform.
This virtual event will be live-streamed and will offer series points that count towards the 2021 Gran Fondo Virtual World Championships, for riders to collect and compete for US$3,000 in prize money.
The Gran Fondo World Tour (GFWT) has expanded the number of events in its international tour and included new virtual events to the 2021 calendar.
“We have just 5 days to go for the second event of the year in the virtual format,” said Dani Buyo, CEO of Gran Fondo World Tour (GFWT). “The new era of virtual cycling is here and we embrace it to offer you alternative options to your events, in these complicated times of the post Corona era.”

- February 27, 2021, Ordino-Arcalis Rouvy Virtual Challenge (summary in Spanish)
- April 27, 2021, Andorra ROUVY Virtual Challenge Race
- November 2021, Gran Fondo World Tour Virtual World Championship (date to be confirmed)
For the 2021 Gran Fondo Virtual World Championship, there is no qualification round required to participate in the two semi-final virtual heats. Direct entry to the final event, to be organized in November by GFWT, is free for all cyclists.
Once a participant finishes an event, he/she automatically gets entered into the series ranking.
Each month, a random ranking number will be drawn for a rider to receive a GFWT prize. A US$3,000 prize pool awaits the final world champion winners, in both categories (men and women), in the Gran Fondo Virtual World Championship finals to be held in November 2021.
