Yayasan Pita Merah Muda Bali, also known as Bali Pink Ribbon (BPR), has announced that its annual fundraising event will return as a virtual run and bike event this year, themed ‘Together We Rise’.
Participants support Bali Pink Ribbon’s social campaigns and activities. The fundraising event aims to support breast cancer awareness efforts in Bali, Indonesia, enabling anyone to take part wherever they are in the world.
The Bali Pink Ribbon 5K Single Run and 25K Single Ride will take place on October 9-10. This is the second year the fundraising event is to held virtually due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It asks people to complete their own run or ride in local parks or neighbourhoods, either by themselves or in socially distanced small groups.
‘The event promotes the feeling of helping yourself while helping others, where participants will be motivated and feel good despite the challenging conditions in Bali, Indonesia and worldwide.’
Gaye Warren, British founder of Bali Pink Ribbon and a breast cancer survivor said, “Entering this second year of pandemic makes us even more aware that cancer waits for no one.
“We must continue to make progress for people affected by cancer, who have never needed us more. COVID-19 has paused support groups and regional road shows, but with the public’s help we can get back on track and continue our vital work to save more lives. We call out to our breast cancer community members to get fit and make an impact, turning a weekend jog or ride into a fundraiser for good.”
The money raised will go towards funding free breast screening roadshows round Bali and its outer islands. Funds will also be allocated to continue having support group meetings and free healthy living informal talks and demonstrations for breast cancer patients.
