36 products selected for Eurobike Award 2021

After a year-long break due to the coronavirus pandemic, the team at Eurobike note that ‘expectations for the Eurobike Award are particularly high in 2021.’

The award is recognised around the world for highlighting technical innovation and creativity. There were 246 products from 30 countries entered into nine categories – all hoping to win a coveted award.

In total, 36 products were selected to win a Eurobike Award 2021 – seven received a Gold Award; and six products received a Start-Up Award.

In keeping with tradition, the award winners will be announced on the first evening of the Eurobike trade fair (September 1, 2021). Alongside significant media attention, award winners also benefit from the prominent positioning at the heart of the live trade fair, which showcases the winning products.

The Eurobike Award winners will be on display for the duration of the Eurobike trade show in Foyer West, Messe Friedrichshafen, Germany. The winners of the prestigious Gold Awards will be announced at the show on September 1, at 17.30 CET.

“We’re delighted by the large number of submissions and the high standards in this year’s Eurobike Award,” said Eurobike Project Manager Dirk Heidrich. “Despite the long break due to corona, the industry is demonstrating a strong innovation drive. This gives a taste of what to expect at Eurobike in September.”

The judges had two days to assess the 246 entered products for the latest technical trends and their future potential. Together, six judges spent two days in a multi-stage process to select the best entries. They ultimately agreed on 36 products.

‘Moreover, for the crème de la crème – those products that stand out for their exceptional innovation – 7 Gold Awards were granted. In addition, 6 new innovations were given a Start-Up Award.’

“Over the last one and half years, bikes have really shown just how much potential they have to offer as a solution to transport problems,” continued Dirk Heidrich.

“And this potential has been underestimated in places, even by the bike industry itself. Today, we can clearly see that bikes – both with and without drive systems – are more innovative, sustainable and crisis-proof than ever.

“We are happy that our Eurobike Award not only helps document this enthusiastic drive for innovation, but also helps to move it forwards. As such, we are also helping the international bike market to position itself more broadly.

In 2021, the 29th Eurobike is geared towards trade visitors on Wednesday and Thursday (September, 1-2) and then opens its doors to all bike fans and enthusiasts on Friday and Saturday (September 3-4).
