Following in the footsteps of pro triathletes who started racing the Z PRO TRI Race Series earlier in February, the Zwift Duathlon League for amateur athletes got under way this week.
Organised by the Zwift Run team, the Zwift Duathlon League got under way on 17th February 2021.
For those feeling inspired by the pros, individuals can sign up for the weekly duathlon race series, which is running for six weeks and takes place every Wednesday. Zwift notes that the duathlon league will allow for those who either enjoy running to get competitive and test their racing ability.
The Zwift Duathlon League events will run as two-leg events starting with the bike and finishing with a run. Races are time-based events with participants challenged to see how far they can ride over 35 minutes.
This will be followed by a 15-minute run race where entrants will have a window of 10 minutes to transition from the bike to the treadmill for a combined total racing time of 60 minutes. The league will have defined age group categories.
The bike races are a mass-start, non-drafting affair, so athletes can choose their favourite virtual TT bike on Zwift. The transition time is 10 mins; and the run is a standard running race.
