Central Texas played host to over 1,700 athletes for the 2022 IRONMAN Waco triathlon, a part of the VinFast IRONMAN US Series, and IRONMAN 70.3 Waco, as part of a weekend of racing on Saturday, October 15 and Sunday, October 16.
In 2018, IRONMAN 70.3 Waco replaced IRONMAN 70.3 Austin in Texas. Then, in 2021, the full distance event was added, giving athletes a weekend of racing options in central Texas.
The two events saw athletes swim, bike, and run through Waco and its surrounding countryside culminating in finishes at the Waco Suspension Bridge.
On Sunday, IRONMAN 70.3 Waco hosted some of triathlon’s top up-and-coming professionals with Gainesville, Florida’s Trevor Foley earning his first IRONMAN 70.3 victory and taking the overall win in the men’s professional race with a time of 3:45:58. In the women’s professional race, Olympian Ai Ueda of Chiba, Japan, took victory with a time of 4:19:16.
The 2022 IRONMAN 70.3 Waco also featured live event coverage on Outside TV, and as part of 11 IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon events from across the globe to broadcast exclusively on the platform.
On Saturday, the 2022 IRONMAN Waco triathlon, a part of the VinFast IRONMAN U.S. Series, saw Cheyenne Barraez (Fort Lauderdale, FL) and Leslie Peterson (Pittsburgh, PA) claim victories.
