After two editions were cancelled due to the pandemic, the Mont-Blanc International Triathlon is back with a record registration of more than 2,200 triathletes set to race at ‘the roof of Europe’.
On August 20-21, 2022, five race formats open to individuals and relays are on offer: Kids 8-11 years, Discovery, Sprint, Olympic and Half. The event organisers report that the Sprint and Olympic individual and relay formats are fully booked.
Hosted in Passy in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in south-eastern France, the race is based between lake and mountain, facing the highest peak in Europe.
The start of the swim will take place at Passy Lake facing Mont-Blanc. Over the Olympic distance, participants will have to climb 900m on their bikes before covering a 10km run around the Passy Lake and crossing the finish line.
The Half distance features a 72km bike course that will give triathletes the opportunity to cross five communes of the Mont-Blanc region, including Passy and Saint-Gervais, with over 1,800m of elevation. This includes the ascent of Bettex and Plaine-Joux with views of Mont-Blanc.
