Following the completion of the 2022 TCS New York City Marathon, on November 6th, the latest figures on the Abbott World Marathon Majors Six Star Finishers have been released.
Six Star Finishers are recognised for completing all six of the Abbott World Marathon Majors in Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago and New York.
In 2022, the Abbott World Marathon Majors ended its Series XIV with 8,143 Six Star Finishers from 104 nations. The oldest male Six Star holder in 2022 was 80 and the oldest female was 77 years old.
By the numbers:
- Out of a total 8,143 Six Star runners, 3,658 came from Europe; 2,271 were from North America; with 1,391 from Asia; 461 from Central & South America; 269 from Oceania; and 93 from Africa.
- Out of a total of 104 participating countries, the USA is the top nation represented, followed by the UK, Italy, Germany and China.The Six Star gender split is 70 : 30 male – female.
- The average marathon time for Six Star runners is 4:03:22
In 2023, as all six Majors return to full field size following the aftermath of the pandemic, the Abbott World Marathon Majors team notes that it is getting… ‘ready to welcome record numbers into our Hall of Fame.’
